Our Philanthropy
This is one of our sisters, Jessenia, with our mascot, Mocsie! If you look closely, you can see Mocsie wearing one of our blue ribbons to support our philanthropy, the Arthritis Research Foundation! We often host basketball games, softball games, or find other ways to get involved around campus in order to spread awareness and raise money for the Foundation!
One of the founding principles of Alpha Omicron Pi is to be of service to others – to bring into the world around us a spirit of love, not for self glory, but as an opportunity to give something back to our community.
Since 1967, when AOII first adopted the Arthritis Research Foundation as our international philanthropy, over $1 million has been raised by sisters to help find a cure for this crippling disease that, so often, targets women as its victims. The AOII Foundation grants funds annually to support Arthritis Research for the purpose of finding the cause and a cure. In addition, the Foundation supports the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization (AJAO), as well as supporting grants for family arthritis education and children’s arthritis camps. Our annual event with other organizations on the Florida Southern College campus is called "War of the Roses," where we get together to have fun and spread the love of philanthropy!
AOII Kappa Gamma also hosts an annual fundraising event called "Strike Out Arthritis" to collect donations for the Arthritis Research Foundation and the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization. We hold events throughout the year to promote arthritis awareness on the Florida Southern College campus.
