About Kappa Gamma

Our AOII Kappa Gamma chapter here at Florida Southern College was chartered on May 5, 1946. Our chapter is more than just a group of women, we are a sisterhood bonded together by growth and trust. In our sisterhood we strive to uphold our values that our four founders set for us; service, scholarship, and leadership. All the while learning more from each other everyday and maintaining our international mission statement of "Women enriched through lifelong friendship".

The women of AOII Kappa Gamma chapter have an unconditional love for one another and strive to be the best we can be. We have wonderful Alumnae who support us and help our chapter whenever they can. Even after graduation, Kappa Gamma Alumnae stay involved through our Alumnae Advisory Committee, Tampa Bay Alumnae Chapter, and providing financial donations.

About AOII Internationally

How it Began...

Alpha Omicron Pi was founded at Barnard College on January 2, 1897 as a women's fraternity. It began as a dream of 4 young college women to continue their friendship throughout life. These women were Stella George Stern Perry, Helen St. Clair Mullan, Elizabeth Heywood Wyman, and Jessie Wallace Hughan.

AOII Today...

Today, Alpha Omicron Pi is an international women's fraternity, with 188 collegiate chapters and 320 alumnae chapters in Canada and the U.S.A. Its international headquarters is located in Brentwood, Tennessee and it is a member of the National Panhellenic Conference, which is the governing council of the 26 member women's fraternities and sororities.

Our Object...

The object of the Fraternity shall be to encourage a spirit of Fraternity and love among its members; to stand at all times for character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty; to strive for and support the best interest of the colleges and universities in which chapters are installed, and in no way to disregard, injure, or sacrifice those interests for the sake of prestige or advancement of the Fraternity or any of its chapters.

A Letter from A Past President

AOII Kappa Gamma is my home away from home. The women who are a part of this chapter are intelligent, funny, caring, compassionate, wonderful people who I am so lucky to know. Being president of AOII Kappa Gamma has taught me leadership, faith, and trust in a way that no other experience in my life has.

The sisters of AOII Kappa Gamma are amazing women who exceed the expectation in everything they do. They strive to achieve academic excellence and develop leadership skills through service to the sorority, the community, and our College. From playing intramurals to participating in philanthropy events to coming up with ideas for a social, there is a place in AOII Kappa Gamma for everyone.

The mission of Alpha Omicron Pi is “Women enriched through lifelong friendship.” Although our collegiate years may be limited, the bonds formed through this organization last well past graduation. It is a friendship for a lifetime.

Becoming a sister of this amazing sorority has made a huge impact on my life, so I encourage you to look around our site and see why we all call AOII our home away from home.
